The County netball festival now in its 14th year compromised of 10 primary school High 5 netball teams representing each School Partnership across Staffordshire competing to become Staffordshire County High Five & School Games Champions.
The netball teams were placed into two sections, each playing one match against the teams in their group with the top two progressing to the semi-finals. Young leaders from local schools who had achieved the youth umpire award put their skills to the test with some officiating and scoring. The young leaders were also mentored under the supervision of volunteers from the Staffordshire County Netball Association.
The fixtures progressed, showcasing the counties best netball talent. The atmosphere was great with lots of smiling participants and support from spectators on the viewing balcony.

Once the first round of fixtures had finished it was then time to add up the scores.

With the teams gathered together, the final positions were announced. The ‘Girl of the Games’ was – Katie from St. Luke’s Primary School and the school awarded the ‘Fair Play’ award was Cheslyn Hay Primary School.
Next it was onto the very close and very exciting semi-final matches.

The High Five Final was a real battle, both teams were very tired after the long day of netball and both striving to win the competition. Newcastle-under-Lyme School took an early lead and continued to up their pace after half time. St. Thomas Aquinas struggled under the pressure to score the goals. The final whistle went to crown Newcastle-under-Lyme School as champions winning the final 6 – 1.
In the 3rd and 4th place play-off match, it was neck and neck for most the match with St. Thomas Catholic securing the win over Stafford Prep in the 2nd half.
