Competition Update
Please see below an update on our Community and Performance Competitions. These may be subject to change should the timeline set out by the government change, however fingers crossed we can finally gain some traction and get people back on court doing what they love.
Premier League Netball
We are currently planning to re-start in September within its traditional time frame (September to April). When we cancelled the remaining games of the 2019/20 season, we communicated with all teams and regions that no promotion and relegation would take place/ Therefore, the same 30 teams that started the 2019/20 season will be offered those places for the 2021/22 season.
National Schools
Before Christmas 2020, we started to look at the option of running a National Schools Knockout competition. However, following the roadmap announcement, we felt it was the right decision to focus on the 2021/22 National Schools Competition rather than squeeze something in for this school year. We will be communicating with schools and Counties before the end of this school year about our plans for next years competition.
National Clubs
We are currently working with the Competition TSG leads from each of the 9 regions to scope if a National Clubs Finals for Under 14’s and Under 16’s will be possible for this year. We currently have venues booked for the last 2 weekends of August 2021 and hope to offer some form of National Competition for these age groups. If it is not feasible to host these events in their traditional format where teams qualify through their region, we will consider other options and if they are suitable at that time.
NPL League
The NPL League for 2021 will start on Saturday 24th April and run through to Sunday 18th July. This will be a shortened season but will allow for NPL teams to take part in valuable competitive fixtures within the Elite Sport Framework.
NPL Tournament
Our priority for the 2021 season has been the NPL league and as a result, the NPL Tournament will not go ahead at the end of July. We are currently looking at the option of hosting an NPL 2-day event for U17 franchise pathway teams and will hopefully have more information in the coming weeks.
Hope this additional information is helpful and thank you for your continued patience and support.
Kind Regards,
Naomi
