County Junior Winter Season 2014/2015 - Week 4

19/10/2014

Wins by North Staffs and Fenton Manor A put them at the top of the Under 16 Premier division, although Stafford Diamonds do have a match in hand. Caitlin Green playing in defence for North Staffs made life very difficult for Newcastle Thunder’s shooters as North Staffs won by 27 goals to 11. Lucy Wytcherley, Thunder’s Goal Shooter, was, however, their star player. Despite Hannah Newman’s determined work in defence for Tean Valley Shooters, Fenton Manor pulled away in the final quarter to win 27-22. Player of the match for Fenton was Abby Rothschild.

In the second division of the Under 16 league, Stafford Emeralds beat Newcastle Town Storm while Newcastle Town Lightning beat Stafford Sapphires! Lydia Fitzmaurice-James is having a super season, winning player of the match for the third time for Lightning. Other star players were Ella Williamson for Storm and Emily Whitlock for Emeralds.

County Junior Winter Season 2014/2015 - Week 2 & 3

12/10/2014

After the close match between North Staffs and Tean Valley Shooters in the first round of the Under 16A division matches, both teams had very different results in the second round. North Staffs had another close game but this time came out victors by a 5 goal margin against Fenton Manor. Robyn Spibey, playing in defence for North Staffs, made it very hard work for the Fenton Manor shooters. Tean Valley Shooters, however, were not at their best versus a strong and determined Stafford Diamond and lost by 11 goals to 27. Hannah Newman was the Tean Valley star player.

In the second round of U16B division matches, Newcastle Town Lightning and Stafford Sapphires took the honours. Jade Spencer for Lightning was in sparkling form as they put 30 goals passed the Newcastle Storm defence. Danni Brereton starred for Storm. Jessica Turner was very energetic in the Tean valley Blades mid-court but that didn’t stop Stafford Sapphires from scoring 21 goals to Blades’ 12. Sapphires’ Alex Stewart made it particularly difficult for the Blades’ shooters to get near to the post.
Stafford Sapphires maintained their winning streak in round 3 when they beat Newcastle Storm by 26 goals to 7. Ellie Statham starred for Sapphires in this match while Ella Williamson starred for Storm. The other U16B match was a much closer encounter- Newcastle Town beat Stafford Emeralds by 14 goals to 11.

County Junior Winter Season 2014/2015 - Week 1

28/9/2014

The first round of matches in the County Junior Netball League was played at the weekend and, as usual, the standard was high and the competition strong.

Tean Valley Shooters took on new team to the league, North Staffs, in the only game in the Under 16 Premier Division. North Staffs led by a couple of goals for most of the match but excellent work by the Tean Valley defence led by Hannah Newman gave the Tean Valley side the chance to pull even with minutes to play. Molly Johnson and Emily James converted their chances and levelled the score at 21 all. Super-sub, Robyn Spibey, was player of the match for North Staffs.

In the Under 16 Second Division, Fenton Manor B beat Stafford Emeralds by 19 goals to 16 in a very close game. Stars of the match were Chloe Goodwin for Fenton and Katie Littlewood for Stafford. Emilia Watchorn-Rice worked hard for Tean Valley Blades, but they could not contain a strong Newcastle Town Lightning team losing by 14 goals to 44. Lydia Fitzmaurice-James starred for Newcastle.
